Natural Fibers: The Luxury Upgrade Your Closet Deserves "Polyester has its place... usually not in your forever wardrobe."

Fibers vs. Fabric: Fibers are the little bits that make up a fabric. The fibers can be put together in various ways to create fabrics. Fibers can be fused, knit, woven, felted to create fabrics. Versions of each of those create distinctly varied surfaces on the fabric. For example, cotton fibers can be woven in a satin weave for a smooth finish like luxury sheets. Cotton fibers can be spun into yarns which are knitted into a sweater. The Breezy Camisole above is very fine weight cotton, delicately woven and then the pieces are sewn together, creating a durable piece that is also lightweight and soft.

Natural fibers come from animals or plants.

  • Cotton worn for comfort or "breathability", durable, usually used for denim, flannel
  • Linen keeps you cool and dries quickly, ideal in warm weather
  • Wool provides warmth, some elasticity
  • Silk is soft, most strong and provides warmth in the cold and cools in the warmer weather
